.st is the ccTLD for São Tomé and Príncipe. It is managed by Tecnisys.[1]

Rules and Restrictions[edit | edit source]

Any corporation or individual in the world can register a .st domain name.

The applicant must warrant that, to the best of their knowledge:

  • the registration of domain name will not infringe upon or otherwise violate the rights of any third party according to the laws of São Tome and Príncipe or any other applicable jurisdiction;
  • the domain name is not being registered for an unlawful purpose;
  • the domain name or any other connected service in violation of any applicable laws or regulations, including, but not limited the sending of unsolicited bulk email ("spamming"), flooding, or other abuse of free search engine services.[2]

Second-level Domains[edit | edit source]

The second-level domains available are reserved for use in São Tomé and Príncipe.

  • .saotome.st: for the Island of São Tomé;
  • .principe.st: for the Island of Príncipe;
  • .consulado.st: for São Tomé and Príncipe consulates;
  • .embaixada.st: for São Tomé and Príncipe embassys.

Other SLDs available are ".gov.st", ".org.st", ".edu.st", ".net.st", ".com.st", ".store.st", ".mil.st" and "co.st".[2]

Characters[edit | edit source]

Domain names with as few as one and as many as 23 characters are permitted. However, names with only one letter (a-z) are reserved.

Names may not begin or end with a dash. Upper case and lower case are treated as lower case only. Spaces and any other characters in a name will not be accepted.[2]

Usage[edit | edit source]

The official registry for .st offers a series of uses for the ccTLD, like street address, words ending with "st" or as a new standard for registering telephone numbers as domain names.[2]
