Mao Wei is chief scientist and director of CNNIC.[1] He is also serving as chairperson at knet.[2]

Education

  • In 1988 Mao graduated from Computer Science Department of Sichuan University.[3]
  • In 1996 Mao got post graduate degree from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Computing Technology.[4]
  • Mao started studying for doctorate degree in 2000.[5]

Work Experience

  • Mao began a position in the computer office at the Zigong branch of the People's Bank of China after graduation.[6]
  • He then moved to the Chuannan Corporation of the Sichuan Xinchao Computer Industry Group for technology development work.[7]
  • In 1996, Mao became the deputy director of the network office of the computer network information center at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.[8]
  • Mao founded the China Internet Network Information Center CNNIC in 1997.[9]
  • Mao served as a visiting scholar at the University of Maryland in 2002.[10]
  • Mao successfully sponsored the Shanghai ICANN meeting in 2002.[11]
  • Mao was elected to be a member of the Executive Council of Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) on March 3, 2007.[12]
  • Mao Wei was appointed representative of Asia - Pacific Network Information Center APNIC on December 9, 2005.[13]

Conferences

  • On Sep. 24, 2007 Mao Wei attended "China Internet Conference 2007" and delivered a speech with the title of "Governance of Internet Development and Internet Innovation in China".[14]
  • On Oct 2, 2008 in Nanjing, Mao Wei attended the meeting on "2012 will have to switch to IPv6" and made a speech.[15]
