Youth Initiatives on Internet Governance (Y2IG) is a project that aims to incentivize and make possible the creation of grassroots, student-lead, cost-free research groups in academic settings. It is lead by undergraduate students who, determined to make a difference in their communities, have created and developed research groups themselves, often without any monetary and institutional support. We use resources and structures already available in our institutions, adapting our tactics, methods and goals around what is available. After our experiences, we have decided to publicly share what we learned, so that others may benefit.
The project aims to offer a series of structured, sequential lessons that will examine each step of creating, managing and developing a research group.
