Nancy Gofus is the COO of the Public Interest Registry (P.I.R.), which is the registry for the .org TLD. Her role gives her oversight of the marketing, sales, and strategy, and it is her goal to expand the international recognition of P.I.R. through marketing efforts in new markets, as well as new campaigns in established markets. Nancy Gofus joined P.I.R. in January, 2012.[1]

Ms. Gofus is currently the Chair of the Board of Volunteers of America, which is a national non-profit dedicated to helping those in need live healthy, safe and productive lives.[2]

Previous Work

Nancy Gofus' career has largely been focused on the Telecommunications industry. She has worked in top positions with AT&T, MCI, and most recently, Verizon. At Verizon she was the Senior Vice President of Global Product Management for Verizon Communications (2009) and chief marketing officer at Verizon Business (2006 to 2008). In that role she was developing and overseeing the marketing strategy, advertising, brand management, and product management. As the SVP of Business Products at MCI (2003 to 2005), she was involved in introducing MCI's new generation of services prior its merger with Verizon. It was not the first time she had worked with MCI, where she held the positions of VP of Strategic Global Services, VP of Product Management, and Director of the National Accounts Program from the early to mid 1990s.

Other positions within the telecom industry have been with XO Communications, Concert Communications, and AT&T.[3] During her time with XO Communications (200 to 2003), she helped drive the company’s growth from $250 million in revenues to over $1 billion.[4]

Education

Ms. Gofus graduated from William & Mary College with a B.A., in Government. She now serves on the college's Foundation Board.[5]
