.ro is the ccTLD for Romania. It is managed by the National Institute for R&D in Informatics.[1]

Second-level Domains edit
Registration is only possible under a second-level domain.[2] The following SLDs are available:
- .co.ro: this domain is intended for commercial entities, that is, companies in general. Anyone is able to register;
- .ne.ro: this domain is intended to hold only the computers of network providers, that is, the NIC and NOC computers, the administrative computers, and the network node computers. Anyone is able to register;
- .or.ro: this domain is intended as the miscellaneous TLD for organizations that didn't fit into any of the other subdomains. This includes charities, trades unions, political parties, community groups, educational councils, professional institutions, etc. Anyone is able to register;
- .srl.ro: this domain is intended for commercial entities, that are in the legal form of a S.R.L. ("Societate cu răspundere limitată"). Anyone is able to register;
- .sa.ro: this domain is intended for commercial entities, that are in the legal form of a S.A. ("Societate pe Actiuni");
- .ac.ro: this domain is intended for all Romanian academic and educational institutions. All Romanian universities, colleges, schools, educational service organizations, and educational consortia register here. More recently, a decision has been taken to limit further registrations to public schools and state universities. This domain has limited access;
- .gu.ro: this domain is intended for Romanian government offices or agencies ("guvernul României"). More recently consideration has been taken to register only agencies of the Romanian federal government in this domain. This domain has limited access;
- .mil.ro: this domain is used by the Romanian military.[3]
