.tn is the ccTLD for Tunisia. It is managed by the Agence Tunisienne d'Internet.[1]

Rules and Restrictions[edit | edit source]

Entities who are eligible for a Domain Name are:

  • legal entities established under applicable Tunisian laws;
  • holders or legal representatives of an international trademark registered in Tunisia;
  • adult individuals of Tunisian nationality or those officially residing in Tunisia.

The domain name label must not:

  • harm public order or be prohibited for use;
  • be contrary to public decency, offensive, or vulgar;
  • have racist connotations, incite violence, or be related to crimes or misdemeanors;
  • offend religions;
  • infringe on the rights of third parties;
  • be identical to or likely to cause visual, syntactic, or phonetic confusion with a brand name.[2]

Characters[edit | edit source]

The following can be registered:

  • ASCII domain names composed of a combination of the following characters:
    • Latin letters from "a" to "z." Internet Domain Names can be registered in uppercase or lowercase letters. No distinction will be made between uppercase and lowercase letters;
    • the hyphen (character "-"), which cannot be used at the beginning or end of an Internet Domain Name;
    • digits from "0" to "9";
  • Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) composed of a combination of characters other than ASCII characters, including the letters à, á, â, ã, ä, å, æ, ç, è, é, ê, ë, ì, í, î, ï, ñ, ò, ó, ô, õ, ö, œ, ù, ú, û, ü, ý, ÿ, ß.

The following ASCII Domain Names cannot be registered:

  • if they are composed of a single letter or a single digit;
  • if they have a length exceeding sixty-three (63) characters;
  • if their 3rd and 4th characters as hyphens, for example, "xx--";
  • if they begin or end with a hyphen "-".

The following IDNs cannot be registered:

  • if they are composed of a single letter or a single digit;
  • if they begin or end with a hyphen "-".[2]
