History
In 1999, Michael Mann and Brian Taff founded BuyDomains.com for the sale and purchase of premium domain names. The company changed its name to YesDirect for some time, but it was changed again, to NameMedia, in June, 2006.[11]
In 2007, it was reportedly rumored that NameMedia was going public and having an IPO in the near future.[12]

NameMedia runs a domain listing service through Afternic.com which sells domain names throughout the world.[13] This DLS is similar to MLS used for real estate. NameMedia has around two million premium domain names to be sold.[14]
