Domain Name Services (Pty) Ltd (or “DNS”)[1] was incorporated in 1998 in South Africa in order to provide specialist registry services for the CO.ZA domain name space. DNS currently provides the core registry systems and related services for the .ZA Central Registry (ZACR), including assisting the ZACR with the migration of its legacy systems to a new EPP based platform.

The ZACR’s transition from its legacy systems to a new, world class, EPP based system and the introduction of a new automated Registrar Accreditation process, has received widespread acknowledgement and praise as one of the most seamless and professional transitions that any registry has undergone. DNS’ unique policy configuration engine provides the flexibility to adapt registry service to different policy implementations over multiple, concurrent, policy scenarios. This innovative approach to registry configuration and policy optimization has received widespread interest from the technical community.

Recently, DNS has assisted the ZACR in preparing and submitting applications for several new gTLDs, including the much anticipated dotAfrica TLD, which will service the African Internet community.

Domain Name Services is the registry backend operator for The ZA Central Registry who manage the following zones:
