Dr. James Boorman has a background in Medical Research, Information Systems and Management. He works at the not-for-profit Oceania Cyber Security Centre (OCSC), where he leads the OCSC part of the Cyber Security Capacity Maturity Model for Nations (CMM) project in the region, in collaboration with the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre (GCSCC) team at the University of Oxford. James has a keen interest in capacity building and awareness programmes.
Career History
James has worked in research at University College London, IT Management for medical research at the University of Cambridge and as a Chief Information Officer in the Australian Government.
He has published a number of peer reviewed papers; supervised Industry Based Learning undergraduates; taught postgraduate students; developed and delivered training materials and workshops; presented internationally; and guest lectured at the post graduate level.
ICANN and Internet Governance Participation
James will be attending his first Internet Governance Forum meeting in Vanuatu in 2018 with a round table discussion on Cybersecurity capacity for nations in the Asia-Pacific.
Education
James has a Master of Information Systems and a PhD in Pharmacology.
