Mentor Ida Ng'ang'a is the outgoing Chairman, Membership & Outreach for Kenya, for the Internet Society. She was elected in September 2016, the first woman to hold this position. She is a Lead Ambassador for the Africa Code Week Program by UNESCO/SAP. She is passionate about technology and has vowed to make internet opportunities, digital learning, computer programming and mobile application development skills accessible to as many youth and women as possible. She is the Founder of Fem-Hub Africa, a centre of excellence for women’s innovations.

She is the Global Lead for Internet for Education for the Internet Society. She is also the Founder of the Network of Young Women Leaders (NYWL) which has members in over 70 countries and Co-Chair - Internet for Development, Women in STEM and Africa Gender Taskforce. She is on the UN Women Young Women's Leadership Taskforce and Youth4Gender team based in New York, as well as Women@Facebook Roundtable. She was recognized by Mara Foundation and the United Nations on International Women's Day (Prolific Woman, 2015) for mentoring young entrepreneurs in Africa.

She is the winner of the African Leadership Top Award 'Outstanding Mentor' 2016, Internet Society African Fellow 2017, African Internet of Things Innovator 2018, Timeless Woman Governance Award, Leaders in Kenya Award amongst other recognitions.

The 2016 winner of the African Leadership Top Award 'Outstanding Mentor', Ida Ng'ang'a, champions Sustainable Development initiatives, provides technical expertise, and connects partners and funders to aid this process, for the Regional Consortium of Experts for Development (RCD Africa). She is currently working on a project that promotes, digital economy, computing skills and internet education policies and interventions for regulators and government (with the help of the private sector); as well as promoting wireless community networks as an affordable solution for internet access.
