Yohani Ranasinghe

Yohani Ranasinghe is a Lecturer in Information and Communication Technology at the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC), Sri Lanka. She is interested in Internet Security, Security and Privacy of the data, Internet of Things and Data Communication through Visible Light. She also loves to learn new technologies and interested in their applications to the betterment of people in a way to upgrade their living standard.

Career History

Before started working at UCSC she worked at the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka and has been doing lectures since 2015. Before joining the academic sector she worked as a Software Engineer at Virtusa (Pvt) Ltd which is a multinational software company based in the US but, her passion for learn new things and share knowledge drove her to the new path of academia.

ICANN and Internet Governance Participation

She started her journey with the Internet Community from APNIC 42 in Colombo, Sri Lanka and joined to APrIGF at Bangkok, Thailand in 2017. She will join ICANN 61 as a fellow and that is her first step with ICANN and willing to work with ICANN in future. Yohani is willing to contribute to the betterment of the Internet in her capacity and love to connect with people and make new friends.

Education

She completed her degree in Information and Communication Technology at Rajarata University with first-class honours. Pega Certified System Architect.

Arpico Gold Medal for the Highest Cumulative GPA in Bachelor of Science (4 years) Degree in Information and Communication Technology.

President’s Guide Award from Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association in 2003.
