Education
Chris is a proud alumnus of the University of New South Wales, where he earned dual degrees—a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce with a focus on Accounting and Finance, achieving Merit in both disciplines. Furthermore, he completed the Advanced Management Program at the prestigious Harvard Business School.
Career
He served as the inaugural Chairman and Chief Executive of the Australian Media and Communications Authority (ACMA) until 2016—a role acknowledged by the Federal Minister for Communications for a decade of distinguished service. Under his leadership, ACMA underwent significant organizational transformation and played a pivotal role in shaping the policy discourse on regulation in broadcasting, telecommunications, spectrum, and online services.
In recognition of his decade-long experiences and achievements, Chris was appointed President of the International Institute of Communications in 2016, making history as the first president from the Asia Pacific region in the organization's nearly 50-year history.
Since 2016, Chris has diversified his directorships and engagements, spanning philanthropy, and sports advisory with a focus on governance, film script development, international media, communications, bleeding-edge digital technologies, and digital transformation consulting. He is actively involved in the development of several digital platforms.
Notable earlier career milestones include serving as the Associate to the Chief Justice of Australia, working as a corporate lawyer, holding senior management positions with the Seven Network, and serving as the Chief Executive of the Sydney Olympic stadium, the Optus broadband joint venture, and Prime Infrastructure Limited.
Chris has a successful track record of chairing organizations across private, public, and not-for-profit sectors, demonstrating adept stakeholder management skills. He is recognized for his commitment to corporate governance, effective chairing, and collaborative approach. In the mid-1990s, he was appointed Chair of Film Australia by the Australian Government.
