.am is the ccTLD for Armenia. It is managed by the "Internet Society" Non-governmental Organization.[1] The official registry is AM NIC.[2]
Rules and Restrictions edit
Any physical and legal entity can register domain names in ".am" and also in the Armenian script equivalent ".հայ" domain name zones. Registration services of domain names can be provided by legal entities (Registrars) accredited by ISOC-AM registered in the Republic of Armenia.[3]
A domain name will not be registered if presents itself a cause of discrimination on account of person's sex or race, or skin color, or ethnic or social origin, or genetic characteristics, or language, or religion or age, or other personal or social circumstances, or promotes calls of human dignity humiliation in other way, or is violence or war propaganda, or committing of actions criminally punishable or prohibited by acting legislation, or is blasphemy, or is otherwise contradictory to the principles of morality or is incompatible with public interest.
Thus, a domain name cannot be used for the purpose of:
- distributing pornographic materials;
- distributing materials against the protection of state borders of the Republic of Armenia, internal stability, national security and (or) against the Republic of Armenia;
- distributing materials of containing calls to commit a crime;
- distributing spam;
- sale of such products or services the circulation or free circulation of which is prohibited by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia (with exception of cases, when the Domain name holder has the allowance to sell such products or provide services);
- distributing materials prohibited by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia;
- implementing trafficking or supporting its implementation in any way.[4]

The available second-level domains under .am are ".com.am", ".co.am", ".org.am", ".net.am" and ".commune.am".[4]
Characters edit
The permitted symbols to be used in a domain name are: Latin script small letters, 0-9 digits and dash "–".
The label must not begin with the dash or include 2 sequential dashes. Also, the label must not exceed 63 characters.[4]
