Marco Schmidt is currently the Policy Development Officer (PDO) of RIPE NCC.
Career
Marco works as PDO since 2013. In this role he manages and promotes the RIPE community Policy Development Processes (PDP). Further he analyses the impact of proposed and existing policies and policy trends from the RIPE region and beyond. He also supports the implementation of accepted policies into RIPE NCC procedures and workflow.
Marco initially joined the RIPE NCC in 2008 s an IP Resource Analyst (IPRA) for the Registration Services department. Within that role, he gained valuable experience in evaluating IPv4, IPv6 and Autonomous System Number requests while providing support to the RIPE NCC membership.
Marco also delivers RIPE NCC training courses to Local Internet Registries (LIR) in the RIPE NCC’s service region (Europe, the Middle East and parts of Central Asia).
Prior to joining the RIPE NCC, he worked at a technical helpdesk for a global network company.

In this role,as PDO he manages the RIPE (community) Policy Development Processes (PDP), both externally and internally.
Education
Marco graduated from the Ilmenau University of Technology in Germany, with a diploma in Media Economy and Service Management.
