Kenneth (Ken) (J.) Silva is the Senior Executive Advisor of Cyber Technologies at Booz Allen Hamilton.

He has been a member of the ICANN Committee[1]

Career History edit

Prior to joining Booz Allen Hamilton, he was an independent consultant for Technology and Cyber Security related issues.

Mr. Silva is well known for his work at VeriSign as a Chief Technology Officer and Chief Security Officer at VeriSign. He was the First Chief Security Office of VeriSign Inc., who joined in 2005 and served as its Chief Security Office for 3 years and then as the Chief Technology officer for 3 years.

He has more than 20 years experience in the telecommunications and security industries. He has also served as Chief Scientific Officer and Vice President of Networking & Information Security at VeriSign. Before, he joined VeriSign, he was a part of the U.S National Security Agency as a Technical Director for 10 years.


Prior to joining Verisign Inc., Mr. Silva served 10 years at the
U.S. National Security Agency, most recently served as its Executive Technical Director. He has held a variety of other key leadership positions, he has taught courses at the National Cryptologic School and he served 10 years in the United States Air Force. Mr. Silva serves on the board of directors for the Information Technology, Information Sharing and Analysis Center (IT-ISAC) and is the Chairman of the Internet Security Alliance. He served as a Member of Technical Advisory Board of Trust Digital Llc. He also advises and participates in a number of national and international committees for organizations, including the National Infrastructure Protection Center (NIPC), the White House ISP Security Panel, the ICANN DNS Security Panel, the Network Reliability and Interoperability Council (NRIC) and the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC).

In 2010, he was included in one of the top 25 CTOs for 2010 by IDG's InfoWorld.[2]
