Joe Abley is a Trustee at NZNOG Trust and the Director of DNS Operations at ICANN. Mr. Abley is also the Network Architect at TekSavvy Solutions, Inc. He serves as the Technical Committee Chair at LonIX Advisory Council and Director at Hopcount Limited.[1] He provides direction and management for ICANN's production DNS services and is an active contributor to IETF.[2]
He has written several RFCs. He attends NANOG Meetings[3] ICANN Meetings, AfNOG, SANOG and other internet related forums and conferences.[4][5]
Career History edit
He was the director of Toronto Internet Exchange from 2007-2009. At afilias, he was the Director of Operations, Content Propagation and Resolution Services, where he was responsible for and part of the team which manages Afilias' distributed authority server platform for various Afilias-operated top-level domains. He was also an Executive director at IAB for one year and SANOG Committee Chair at NANOG.
From 2004-2006, he worked at the ISC, where he had the responsibility of the architecture and operation of ISC's networks in California and in the twenty F root nameserver nodes distributed around the world, many of which he helped install. While he was at ISC, he taught at workshops and tutorial in many parts of the world.[6] He has also worked at Metromedia Fiber Network and Clear Communications Limited.[7]

Mr. Abley currently lives in Ontario, Canada with his wife and his son.[8]
