James Galvin is the Vice Chair at ICANN SSAC, Board Director at Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestra and Director of Strategic Relationships and Technical Standards at Afilias. He is also the owner of eList eXpress LLC and a Participant at IETF. At Afilias, he manages the company's relationships with the Internet Community; he is also involved in improving Afilias technical leadership.

Dr. Galvin has been working in the DNSSEC domain since its beginning and he chaired the first working group that produced the first sets of specifications and managing the research group the produced the first public domain implementation of those specifications.[1]

Career History edit

Dr. Galvin has been an active member of the IT and the Internet industry for more than 3 decades. He has several years of experience in technical consulting. Earlier in his career, he was the Executive Director of SSAC before he became the Vice Chair. From 2004-2007, he was the Internet Program Manager at Shinkuro Inc.. He has also served as VP Chapters and Individual Membership at ISOC, Chief Technologist at CommerceNet, Senior Computer Scientist at Trusted Information Systems - TIS (1989 – 1996) and Senior Software Engineer at The Wollongong Group (1988 – 1989).[2] He has been active in IETF for more than 20 years.[3]

He holds a Bachelors of Science with double major in Computer Science and Mathematics from the Moravian College and a Masters in Computer Science and Information Systems from The University of Delaware. He did his Ph.D from the latter university.
