Dotster is a domain name registration service held by the Baker Capital Equity Firm, founded in 1995 that offers hosting, email, security and marketing services to it's clients. Dotster is run by CEO Clint Page joining in 2000 and CFO Brian Unruh who joined in March 2005. The company headquarters is in Vancouver, Washington, USA.[1]

Email Brain, which provides email marketing services was bought by Dotster in 2008. The company originally was founded in 2003 by Aurelio F Rodriguez. Email Brain allows the customers to send and keep track of promotions and newsletters.[3]

Dotster Connect

Dotster launched Dotster Connect on January 22, 2009, which is an all-in-one product that helps businesses and people to tap into the power of social networking. When Dotster connect was launched it was the only one of its kind product. Dotster connect comes in four packages silver, gold, platinum and enterprise, the enterprise package being with the highest number of features.[4]

Happy Hour Promotion

On June 24, 2008 Dotster held a happy hour promotion from 9am to 4pm(PDT). Dotster distributed 400 free coupons that were redeemable for .com, .org, or .net domain name. They gave fifty free coupons every hour on a first come first served basis.

Dotster held 'eBiz in a Box' sweepstakes to give away 8 packs of tools that can help one in making a website. The sweepstakes started on June 10, 2008. Each week dotster gave one free tool kit to a person randomly selected from the people who participated in the sweepstakes.[7]

Awards

On May 26th 2008, VeriSign presented Dotster a Domain Pioneer award, which implements that dotster has played a vital role in the expansion of .com domains.[8]
