Steve Metalitz serves as Senior Vice President of the International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA), a private sector coalition of seven U.S. trade associations which represent over 1,900 companies producing and distributing materials protected by copyright laws throughout the world. His primary duties with IIPA focus on issues of copyright protection in the digital and electronic commerce environments, including ratification and implementation of the WIPO Internet treaties, as well as legal developments in the Asia/Pacific region.

Metalitz is also a partner in the Washington, DC law firm of Smith & Metalitz LLP, specializing in intellectual property, privacy, e-commerce and information law and policy advocacy, primarily for clients in the publishing, recording, motion picture, software and e-commerce sectors. As counsel to the Creative Incentive Coalition, he was instrumental in the drafting of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998, and he has also served as counsel to the Copyright Coalition on Domain Names since its inception in 1999.

He chairs the IPC.
