Akram Atallah
Akram Atallah is the current President of ICANN's Generic Domains Division, a new department created in June 2013 to oversee generic domain operations, domain name industry engagement and web services for the community.[1] He was formerly ICANN's COO, a position he had held since September 2010. From summer through October 2012, Atallah served as interim CEO for ICANN until the newly appointed Fadi Chehadé took over the position. Atallah's role was then expanded to include oversight of Registry and Registrar Services, Security, and the new gTLD program.[2]

Career History
Atallah has over twenty years of experience in engineering development and management, communications technology management, product marketing, and large business restructuring management. He spent over ten years at Conexant Systems and was COO of CoreObjects Software.[3][4]
Education
Atallah has an MBA and holds Master and Bachelor degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He is a trilingual speaker of English, Arabic, and French.[3]
