An internationalized domain name email (IDN email) is an email address that supports languages that contain non-ASCII script such as Arabic, Chinese, or Cyrillic. In this respect, email addresses can be represented in any language.

Traditional email addresses are presented in a format limited to the English language: use of ASCII character set. [1]

On Tuesday August 5th, 2014 Google announced that Gmail address would be implementing IDN emails. [2]
