.sas is a delegated Brand gTLD in ICANN's new gTLD program. There were originally two brands applying for rights to the abbreviated form of their names, but Research IP LLC's application prevailed. The extension was delegated to the Root Zone on 18 December 2015. [1]

Private Auction edit
In November 2014, the two applicants resolved the contention set via a private auction that concluded with Research IP LLC winning the rights to the string.[3]
