.th is the ccTLD for Thailand. It is managed by the Thai Network Information Center Foundation.[1]
Rules and Restrictions edit
All types of organizations according to Thai law, natural persons who are Thai citizens, foreigners who own a trademark registered with the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Commerce are eligible to register a domain name.
In the case a domain name application requests the use of any of the following terms in their domain name, the verification process may be extended to seek additional assistance from an expert(s), such as:
- community names (this refers to names that indicate the representation of a gathering of a particular group of people or a group with similar interests, such as historical, cultural or social, as well as names that refer to a particular institute, such as those subject to national regulations (such as .bank, .pharmacy) or those that indicate or target a specific population or industry that is vulnerable to online fraud or abuse;
- geographic names;
- public names (this refers to common names that are well known to the public or used in everyday life, such as the name of a public park, natural resource, etc.);
- a Thailand National Industry name
- a Thailand Cultural name
- a homophone with .th SLD, both existing domain names and those under this category, including the name(s) similarly spelled to other names, which may cause confusion to the public in identifying ownership;
- identical names of Thai government offices, international organizations or special organizations, both full formal name and abbreviated.[2]
Second-level Domains edit
The second-level domains available for registration are:
- .ac.th: designed for academic institutions certified by the Ministry of Education in
Thailand, or an agency with equivalent status;
- .co.th: designed for business entities. Foreign juristic entity or trademarks owners are allowed to appoint an authorized representative, who is a juristic entity according to Thai law or an entity who registered Value Added Tax (VAT) ID with the Revenue Department (RD), to register a domain name on their behalf;
- .go.th: designed for government agencies and their supervisory projects in accordance with the Cabinet Resolution (2002);
- .mi.th: designed for Royal Thai Armed Force agencies with authorization by the Department of Military Information;
- .net.th: designed for licensees of a telecommunication business license in accordance with the Telecommunication Business Act 2001;
- .org.th: designed for non-government organizations;
- .in.th: designed for all types of entities, non-juristic entities with an official location in Thailand, or an individual with Thai citizen or a non-Thai citizen who holds a valid Thai work permit.[3]
Characters edit
Length of string must contain at least two characters and no more than 63 characters.
Each .th domain name must consist of English letters (a-z) and/or Arabic numerals (0-9).
It also may contain a hyphen ("-") inserted between a letter or number, but not inserted as two adjoining hyphens(--). A hyphen(-) cannot be used as the first or last character of a domain name.[2]
