Adiel Akplogan was the CEO of AFRINIC until early 2015;[1] and held this position since 2004. He is currently the Vice President of Technical Engagement at ICANN. He was also an Executive Council member at the Number Resource Organization (NRO),[2] where he served as Chairman until 2014.[3] He is particularly focused on IPv6 deployment and capacity building as of late. He is a member of ICANN's Address Supporting Organization, and is involved in the ccNSO on behalf of AfTLD.[4]
Mr. Akplogan is currently based in Canada, though his work sees him frequently traveling Africa, especially Mauritius.[5]

Mr. Akplogan has more than 15 years of experience in the Internet Technology environment. He was previously an Advisor for the U.N.'s Internet Governance Forum. He has also served as the director at CAFENet, which is an IT service company in Togo. He was the IT Director at Symbol Technologies from 2001 until 2003, he was based in France for that time.[6] He served in the African Technical Advisory Committee of the United Nation Economic Commission for Africa (ATAC/UNECA) from 2005 to 2006.[7]
He is one of the pioneers of the Internet in West Africa. He started the first Internet service provider in the region. Mr. Adiel participated in the creation of several technical bodies in Africa such as AfNOG and AfTLD. He also serves on the Administrative Committee at the AfNOG.[8] He was the first Vice President and a Founding Member of Togo's ISOC chapter.[9]
Adiel Akplogan is a founding member of AfTLD, and he continues to help and represent the organization to African ccTLD registries.[10] He has been a member of the OIF (Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie) group of Internet experts since 1999.[11]
Adiel Akplogan holds a Degree in Electrical Engineering and an M.Sc. in Business and New Technology Management.[12]
