Antonio Tavares was elected twice as ISPC's representative to the NomCom, in 2003 and 2004.[1] He works with CGI.br, and is currently the Chairman of its board.[2][3] He has been influential in creating special Working Groups and Committees within the ISPCP and CGI.br.[4] He has been working with the Internet in Brazil since 1992.[5] Antonio has served 3 terms as the President of Abranet.
Mr. Tavares led the organization and coordination of ICANN's meetings in Brazil, which took place in 2003 in Rio and in Sao Paolo in 2006. The meetings went well, and brought together more than 800 individuals.[6][7]
He is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. He frequently writes and lectures on Internet issues.[8]
