Jaewon Son is a researcher at Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST). She is also a Committee Member of the Korea Internet Governance Forum (KrIGF), Capacity Building Lead of Youth4IG, and Asia Pacific Regional At-Large Organisation (APRALO) Member. She is interested in ensuring the multistakeholder model in internet governance which made her initiate the first youth session in Korea during the 8th KrIGF and co founded the first Korean youth stakeholder group called Voice of Youth at Internet Governance (VOY@IG).

Jaewon was an outstanding performer awardee at the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA) 2018, and was a mentor and keynote speaker at APIGA 2019.  She has attended ICANN 63 in Barcelona as a civilian expert appointed by Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), and ICANN 64 in Kobe as a NextGen. She attended ICANN66 in Montreal to enhance youth participation and ICANN67 as a fellow. As a speaker and fellow, she has attended Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) 2019 in Vladivostok, and Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) 48 in Chiang Mai. In addition, she attended IGF 2019 in Berlin and APrIGF 2020 as a speaker. She is currently mentoring Internet Society’s IGF Youth Ambassadors 2020.
