Samuel Nartey Abbrey: Personal Biography

Samuel Nartey Abbrey is a dedicated environmentalist and advocate for sustainable development, hailing from Ghana. With a fervent passion for child and youth development, climate action, environmental sustainability, and community development, Samuelson has made significant contributions in various capacities, demonstrating his commitment to fostering a healthier planet and enhancing community welfare.

Currently serving as a Community Relations Officer at Eclectic Love in Ho since November 2022, Samuel has successfully collaborated with diverse communities, including schools and stakeholders, to implement impactful projects. His initiatives in child protection focus on enhancing quality of life, promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and advocating for human rights, particularly in climate action, quality education, internet governance and child and youth development. His leadership in Green Earth and Clean Air Clubs among school children, coupled with his efforts to facilitate sustainable life skills training among young people, foster social cohesion and advocate for children's needs, underscores his dedication to community empowerment.

Prior to this, Samuel completed his National Service at the Environmental Protection Agency in Ho from November 2021 to September 2022. During this period, he gained extensive experience in environmental impact assessments, compliance enforcement, environmental monitoring, and auditing. His role also involved technical reviews, data management, and school outreach programs, reflecting his multifaceted skills in environmental protection and education.

Samuel is a product of the University for Development Studies, Wa Campus, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Environment and Resource Management in September 2021. His undergraduate thesis focused on assessing household access to potable water in Kwahu-Tease, Eastern Region, Ghana, showcasing his analytical abilities and dedication to addressing critical environmental issues. Additionally, he participated in the Third Trimester Field Practical Program, conducting community needs assessment research in the Savanna Region of Ghana.

Beyond his formal education, Samuel has pursued numerous certifications to enhance his expertise. These include training in climate change activism, SDGs, Syntropic Agroforestry, sustainable life skills, human rights, project management, and internet safety and governance. Notably, he has completed these courses from prestigious organizations such as the Climate and Development Knowledge Network, Primally Playful Foundation, Project Management Institute, Youth for Human Rights International, Ghana School on Internet Governance and the Oxford Climate Society among others and has attended several workshops and conferences including the National Youth Conference in 2023.

Samuel is also actively involved in extracurricular activities, having held leadership positions in various student associations, including the Environment and Resource Students Association and the Students' Representative Council at his university. His participation in Christian fellowship and various committee roles further highlights his commitment to community service and his personal and spiritual development.
