Kurt Erik (Kurtis) Lindqvist was the CEO of Netnod Internet Exchange[1], and is currently the CEO of London Internet Exchange (LINX). He is the owner of Internet Technology Advisor. Lindqvist has been member of the Internet Architecture Board, and a Participant at IETF.[2]

He studied Computer Science at Uppsala University in Sweden, and holds an EMBA from IMD in Lausanne.

Career History[edit | edit source]

In 1992, he was the part of a group that setup one of the first BBS' in Aland.[3]

In 1994, he co-founded Alandia Online, which was one of the two first ISPs on the Åland Islands. In 1996, he worked on the merger of Alandia Online with AalNEt to what became Ålcom. From 1997 to 2000, he was the Technical Director of EUnet Sweden and after that of the KPNQwest Sweden.

Lindqvist has also worked as the Director of IP Network Architectures at KPNQwest R&D team. Since June 2002, he was the CEO of Netnod until February 2016.

From March 2016 he was the CMO of LINX, until September 2019 when he was appointed CEO.

He has been a WG chair in RIPE and the IETF. He has Chaired the Swedish Operators Forum, and was the chair of the board of Euro-IX from 2003 until 2020.[4]

He has been the chair of the SANOGSouth Asian Network Operators Group.[5] Lindqvist has served as the co-chair of IETF Multi6-Wg, shim6 WG, v6ops WG and the chair of the RIPE NCC Services WG.[6]

On 10 June 2024, at the ICANN 80 meeting in Kigali, Rwanda, it was announced that Lindqvist would serve as the President and CEO of ICANN from 5 December 2024.
