.tg

.tg is the ccTLD for Togo. It is managed by the Autorité de Régulation des Communications Electroniques et des Postes (ARCEP).

Rules and Restrictions

The following entities are eligible to register a domain name under the .tg top-level domain:

• Legal Entities:
  • State and local authorities;
  • public or private enterprises, whether based in Togo or elsewhere;
  • institutions, organizations and associations, regardless of their location;
  • holders of trademarks registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI), or the National Institute of Industrial Property and Technology of Togo (INPIT).
• Individuals:
  • adults domiciled in Togo;
  • adults residing outside Togo;
  • holders of trademarks registered with WIPO, OAPI, or INPIT.

Domain names must not contain terms that infringe upon competition rules, commerce, morality, public order, or the rights of third parties, including the name, image, or reputation of any individual or legal entity. Also, a domain name must not aim to cause or result in confusion in the minds of the relevant public regarding any individual or legal entity.

Domain names must not harm national security, public order, the interests of the state and public authorities, or be contrary to morality and decency. They also must not infringe upon religion, language, culture, political opinions, or use racially offensive terms.

Second-level Domains

The following second-level domains are available for registration:

• .admin.tg: for public administrations;
• .asso.tg: for associations;
• .edu.tg: for the educational sector;
• .gouv.tg: for governmental structures;
• .nom.tg: for individuals;
• .org.tg: for international organizations and NGOs;
• .tm.tg: for registered trademarks;
• .com.tg: for entities engaged in industrial or commercial activities, or any other income-generating activity;
• .info.tg for activities related to information publication;
• .net.tg for network and Internet service providers;
• .mairie.tg for municipalities (e.g., lome.mairie.tg);
• .prefecture.tg for prefectures (e.g., yoto.prefecture.tg);
• .ville.tg for cities (e.g., kara.ville.tg);
• .canton.tg for canton capitals (e.g., amoutive.canton.tg);
• .village.tg for villages (e.g., edzi.village.tg).

Characters

Eligible domain names include alphanumeric terms composed of letters from the French alphabet (A to Z), digits (0 to 9), and the hyphen "-". Domain names cannot be registered if they:

• consist of a single character;
• consist of only two letters;
• start or end with a hyphen "-";
• exceed a total length of 255 characters (with a maximum of 63 characters between each dot ".");
• have hyphens as the third and fourth characters (e.g., "xx--").
