The idea

In 2000, when Startpath went in bankruptcy, Lawrence Ng aged 21 and his friend Fred Hsu, decided to use the knowledge achieved while working for Startpath and start their own business. Using their own savings, of about 10.000$ without any outside funding the two created in a small office Oversee.net. The big success of the company came along with the brand Domain Sponsor, followed by SnapNames and Moniker. The idea that Lawrence Ng was following was to create a service that would be a "one-stop shop" for domainers.[7]

Oversee.net and ICANN

Oversee.net is one of the co-founders of the Internet Commerce Association (ICA), a non-profit association that represents the interests of domain owners. ICA is an important participant in the development of rules and regulations that relate to Internet issues and also in the dispute resolution process established by ICANN.[8]
