Lynn St. Amour is the President of the Internet Society (ISOC).

Professional experience[edit | edit source]

After graduating University of Vermont, Lynn St. Amour began her career working for General Electric Corporation. After GE, she occupied numerous management positions for Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) among which we enumerate:

  • Director of Pricing for Sales and Marketing in Europe (established the European Pricing Office)
  • Corporate Strategic Alliance Director (responsible for a number of strategic initiatives at a corporate level
  • led the Sales and Product Forecasting teams
  • Leader of the worlwide Capacity Management Team[1]

The experience gained afterwards within AT&T as a director of Business Development and Joint Venture Operations for Europe, Middle East and Africa helped her lead negotiation team and development of several telecommunications joint ventures with leading European companies. Currently she is President/CEO of the Internet Society (ISOC). The first position she held in ISOC was in 1998 as a Executive Director of Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) division. St. Amour played a very important role in ISOC's international expansion. In 1999 she became Global Executive Director and COO until 2001 when she became President and CEO.[2]

ISOC and ICANN[edit | edit source]

ISOC is a nonprofit organization that aims at providing leadership in issues related to Internet, education and policy. The association aims at ensuring the proper evolution and use of Internet all over the world. [3] ISOC and ICANN crossed paths when Luc Faubert a member of ISOC in Quebec launched an invitation for ISOC to be member of the At-large community (ALC) of ICANN. [4]
