The Registrar Data Escrow program was initiated by ICANN to protect data associated with registered domain names in a secure escrow environment. Iron Mountain was selected to implement and execute Registrar Data Escrow as an analogue to the company's longstanding role as a provider of comprehensive Domain Name Registry Data Escrow services as well as its recognized leadership in securing and protecting mission-critical information for corporate and government clients worldwide.

Iron Mountain’s Domain Name Registrar Data Escrow provides a protected, secure environment for the storage of definitive domain name information. If a problem occurs with an ICANN-accredited registrar, the registrar’s data escrow account can be referenced and used to make definitive decisions on domain name ownership.
