Mark J. Elkins is a Founding Member of ARC, the African Registry Consortium, and a Director within AfriNIC.[1] He is also the Owner of Posix Systems.[2] He is also an associate at NetDay Association and a Member at ISOC.[3]
Mr. Elkins activities at ICANN include participation with the ccNSO and work with AfriNIC.[4] He participates in a variety of international and regional IT conferences, workshops, and other fora, including work with the IGF and ITU.
Career History[edit | edit source]
Mr. Elkins was a member of the AfrISPA from 2000 until 2010. He served as the director at UniForum SA for 25 years, where he managed the co.za namespace.[5][6] In 2009, he worked at AfriNIC for a few month as a board member. He was a member of ISPA from 2000 to 2009. Mr. Elkins joined UKOM systems in 1984 and worked there till 1986 as a CTO.
He has worked on Unix based computer systems since the beginning of his education. In 1984, he moved to South Africa from UK. After twelve years at Olivetti Systems and Networks, he started his own ISP, Posix Systems, an Internet Service Provider. He has been involved in Computer Communications since 1986.[7]

Mr. Elkins was educated at Queen Mary College (London University).[8] He attended the ACRP, a risk management workshop for ccTLDs, in 2009.[9]

Mark Elkins is a scuba diving instructor.[10]
