Application Excerpt[edit | edit source]

The following is excerpted from applicant's response to question #18:

"Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (the Applicant) was founded in 1876 as a printing company called Shueisha. The companyʹs aspiration was to contribute to societal development by conducting business that would help to modernize Japan. This was truly the ʺmanagement conceptʺ underlying the founding of the company. This goal of contributing to society has been carried over into the ʺDNP Group Vision for the 21st Centuryʺ and serves as the foundation for DNPʹs various activities, notably the .DNP new gTLD.

.DNP is a domain for Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. and its stakeholders. The primary purpose of .DNP is to consolidate Dai Nippon Printing-related domain names registered under various TLDs into an official extension, the .DNP TLD.

..

In order to achieve the goals stated above, the plans for .DNP domain name registration policies are as follows. All .DNP TLD registrars and registrants must agree to abide by the policies. Failure to comply with the policies may result in denial, cancelation or transfer of any registration or transaction, or domain name being placed on lock, hold or similar status.

Registration Eligibility Domain name registrations for .DNP will be limited to the following organizations: 1. Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. 2. Companies listed on the asset securities reports of Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. 3. Unconsolidated subsidiaries of Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. 4. Affiliate companies of Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd.

Important Note: No individual-basis registrations will be allowed. In other words, the board members, employees, and contract staff of the companies listed above are not permitted to be registrants of .DNP domain names."[2]
