Edwin A. Opare is the CEO and Co-Founder of the Center of Open Governance in Ghana. He has worked there since November 2012 and hopes to use Information Technology to promote effective, efficient, transparent, and accountable governance in his country. He is also the General Secretary of the Ghana Chapter of the Internet Society, where he has worked since February 2013, as well as the Technical Lead of Ghana Open Data Initiative, where he has worked since April 2012.[1]
Additionally, Opare is the Technical Manager and Computer Security Trainer at the National Information Technology Agency, where he has worked since August 2011 to provide leadership in development and deployment of NITA Computer Emergency Response Team (NITACERT) policies, procedures, and programs.[1]
Opare served as a speaker at the G8 Open Agric Data conference in Washington DC on April 2013. He has also given several keynote addresses and presentations on Open Data, Open Access, and Internet Freedom, as well as organized several Open Data sessions and hackathons.[1]
He is a Russian-trained Computer Engineer who is fluent in English, Russian, Akan, and Twi.[1]
Opare has been involved with ICANN through ISOC since 2012. ICANN 47 in Durban was his first ICANN conference.[2]
