Rajesh Chharia is a Member of the Delhi ISOC Chapter at Internet Society, President at Internet Service Providers Association India (ISPAI), [1] Director at National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) Ltd, Owner & CEO at Chandra Indl Co Pvt Ltd and CEO & Promoter at CJ Online Private Limited.[2][3]

He has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Delhi University and a postgraduate in Commerce Honors.[4]

Career History[edit | edit source]

Chharia started his career in 1974 as CEO of his family's Manufacturing Packaging Materials business.

Since the very inception of Internet in India in 1998, he has been a part of the industry. He was one of the first Internet Service Providers of India. From there Rajesh started contributing to the Internet community as an Executive Council member of ISP Association of India (ISPAI). Since 2006, he has been the president of ISPAI.[5]

He ensures the presence of India in the APNIC by nominating and supporting election of a. ISPAI representative to the EC of APNIC.[6]

Rajesh has also managed National, Regional (SE Asia, Asia Pacific) and International events. He supervised the first IPv6 tutorial in New Dehli. In the year 2007, he oversaw SANOG 10, which was a very successful training program. In the same year, as the President of ISPAI, Chharia hosted APNIC 24 in New Dehli, which was at that time the biggest Internet event to be held in the Asia-Pacific region.[7] In 2008 he hosted ICANN and IGF. He is also a Member of the Regional Advisory Committee of Central Excise & Service Tax under the Government of India's Ministry of Finance.[8]

He was a co-founder of National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), a non profit organization that represents all stakeholders managing the exchange point and domain registry in India.[9]

Chharia has also participated as a member to the leading Industry Associations of India like FICCI, CII & ASSOCHAM.[10]
