.uz is the ccTLD for Uzbekistan. It is managed by the Single Integrator for Creation and Support of State Information Systems (UZINFOCOM). [1]

Rules and Restrictions[edit | edit source]

Any individual and legal entity, regardless of nationality and location, has the right to register a domain name in the "uz" domain.[2]

Second-level Domains[edit | edit source]

Second-level domains under .uz have different administrators:

The SLDs administered by UZINFOCOM Center are:

  • .ac.uz: for research institutions, universities and cultural institutions leading to research;
  • .int.uz: for international organizations;
  • .pp.uz: for individuals;
  • .for.uz: for users ID.UZ with the status PassportID.[3] ID.UZ is is a unified identification and authentication system for websites and information systems of the National Internet segment. A PassportID status is assigned by the administration after the user presents his passport data.[4]

The SLDs administered by Saltex GmbH are:

  • .com.uz and .co.uz: for commercial organizations;
  • .net.uz: for organizations engaged in projects related to the development of the Internet;
  • .org.uz: for non-profit organizations.

The SLD administered by the Ministry of higher education of Uzbekistan is:

  • .edu.uz: for schools that have a license for educational activity.[3]

Characters[edit | edit source]

A domain name must consist of more than one character and contain the following characters or a combinations thereof:

  • letters a-z;
  • numbers 0-9;
  • the hyphen ("-" sign).[2]
