.ws is the ccTLD domain for Samoa. The abbreviation "ws" refers to Western Samoa, which was the official name of the nation when it's ccTLD was delegated. It is managed by the Government of Samoa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade.[1]

Rules and Restrictions[edit | edit source]

A registrant must warrant that they have legal rights to the name being registered, and that use of the domain name selected does not violate any copyrights, trademarks or service marks.

Domain names that are in opinion, vulgar, obscene or generally offensive to most individuals may be refused.

The registry also reserves the right to suspend or permanently disable domains that are used for illegal purposes or were obtained in a fraudulent manner.[2]

The WebSite.ws registry has a very strong anti-Spam policy. It is not allowed to use their products or services for the purpose of sending Spam, nor to be referenced in Spam. If a customer sends Spam to anyone, their account will be terminated.[3]

Characters[edit | edit source]

.ws accepts any character that can be written with Punycode, including Emoji domain names. ASCII text and Emojis can be mixed.[4]
