Timothy M. McGinnis (or McTim) is the father of a little boy, and as such, much of his energy is spent trying to keep up with his son. He is an independent examiner for ICANN' s name and numbers. In the past, Tim consulted for African ISPs on IP resource issues, gave training sessions and lectures on DNSSEC, Internet Governance, and Internet infrastructure development. He was also the .pharmacy Registry Administrator for the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.[1][2]
He was also previously a hostmaster and trainer at RIPE NCC, as well as the PDWG Co-Chiar for AFRINIC and the Training Manager for ISC.[2]
Timothy has been online for over 20 years and has, amongst other things, been a content monkey, dot-bomb survivor and a dogwallah. His most recent full-time job was with the European IP address registry where he was able to watch and participate in Internet Governance firsthand. Among his publishing credits are exciting works such as “Supporting Notes for the IPv6 End User Site Assignment Request Form” (a RIPE document) and “WSIS/WGIG IPv6 distribution issues in Africa” for the book Africa and the WSIS: From Principles to Action. Perspectives from the Civil Society". He was also an ISOC WSIS Ambassador.
McTim lives in Kampala, where the traffic jams are terrible, and Internet connectivity is almost as bad.[3]
As of ICANN 51 in Los Angeles, McGinnis had attended more than 10 ICANN Meetings and had also previously attended IGF, WSIS, ARIN, AFRINIC, and RIPE.[2]
