.charity is a new generic top level domain name (gTLD) applied for in ICANN's New gTLD Program.
Current Applicants
The applicants are:[1]
- Donuts (Corn Lake, LLC), a start-up registry operator that applied for 307 new gTLDs, each via a different LLC.[2]
- Famous Four Media (Spring Registry Limited), a company based in Gibraltar represented by Geir Rasmussen, it has applied for 61 new gTLDs. [3]
GAC Early Warning
Both applicants for .charity were issued a GAC Early Warning from the representative of Australia and GAC Chair, Heather Dryden. The warning system is noted as a strong recommendation on behalf of national governments to the ICANN Board that a given TLD application should be denied as it stands.
