Punto Madrid's initiative to apply for the .madrid string is led by Alexander Siffrin of Key-Systems; Jose Lagos of Dinamiq and Jose Maria Santo Tomas of Estudio Juridico Serrano Internacional; they serve as the organizations' president, vice president and secretary respectively.[1]

It is a Community Priority Application. Community membership is determined by: "residence in the Madrid area, or; the pursuit of lawful business activities in the Madrid area, or; the pursuit of cultural leisure, and sport activities in the Madrid area, or; any other kind of direct or indirect presence that is generally accepted as legitimate for, and conducive to the welfare of, the Madrid area."
