Application Details

The following is excerpted from the applicant's response to question #18:

"The new .webjet gTLD will operate as a restricted registry, in which Webjet Ltd. (Webjet) can create and control domain names that promote the identity and authenticity of its brand. In this regards, Webjet will use .webjet to provide information, services and resources to its customers in a way that delivers increased brand awareness, trust and convenience. The .webjet gTLD will provide an authoritative internet space for Webjet, its affiliates and partners that are associated with the brand. Second and third level domain names in the .webjet domain space will be utilised to tailor services and to engage customer on specific product categories, with internet users assured of brand authenticity.

Webjet is a global travel company and a licensed member of International Air Transport Association (IATA) offering online and mobile sale of flights, hotels, car hire, insurance and other travel related products and services. Webjet was established in 1998 and currently operates in Australia, New Zealand, UK, US, Canada, Hong Kong and Singapore. Webjet interacts with its customers primarily over the internet, with over 6 million site visits per month across all Webjet websites, or 70 million per annum. This interaction has resulted in over 902,000 flight transactions for the 12 months ended June 2011. Webjet’s interaction with its customers online has been highly awarded, including; being named ‘Hitwise No. 1 Travel Agent’ 9 times between 2007 and 2010, and being awarded ‘Travel Tech Travel Agency Website of the Year’ in 2010, based on criteria of innovation, design, usability, speed, build quality and content. In this regard, consumer trust and continuous innovation with its online presence are paramount considerations in all its activities."[2]
