Internationalization (UTF8SMTP) extension allows UTF-8 characters in SMTP envelope and mail header fields. To avoid rejecting internationalized Email messages when a server in the delivery path does not support the UTF8SMTP extension, some sort of converting mechanism is required. Dr. Ajay Data has enhanced and proposed the downgrading mechanism and instead of standard downgrading to Punycode. Dr. Data has recommended downgrading it to a desired ASCII email address. XgenPlus offers [https://www.xgenplus.com/idn-email-web-hosting/ ASCII+EAI address] in one mailbox and allows user to downgrade to either Punycode or ASCII address. This method was demonstrated during the UASG workshop in [[ICANN 60]] and was accepted as a recommended practice for other EAI practitioners.
