Antony Van Couvering is the CEO of Minds + Machines.[1] He has played a very important role in the internet governance, having a significant part in the early days of creation of the ccTLDs.

He also chaired the meeting in singapore which gave birth to ICANN.[2] Along with Minds + Machines, Couvering is also the CEO of Top Level Domain Holdings, which is the parent company of Minds + Machines.[3] He is also acting as the Chairman and Director of Business Development for DomainsBot.[4]

  • Antony studied from the University of Columbia with a Bachelors in Comparative literature.

Career History

  • He has been working in the domain name industry since 1996[5]
  • He founded the company NetNames in 1997 and then sold it to NetBenefit.[6]
  • He founded the company NameEngine in 1999. He worked at NameEngine for two years. At NameEngine, he got the experience of working with American Express, Bridgestone-Firestone, Citibank, Colgate-Palmolive, Goodyear, Intel, Kodak, and Viacom, and with IP law firms including Fross Zelnick, Ladas & Parry, and Brown Raysman.[7]
  • He sold NameEngine to Verisign in 2001 and then worked at Verisign till 2004.[8]
  • Antony has started and managed many ccTLDs, including .tm, .as, .bt, and .pw
  • He, with the collaboration of Jon Postel played an important role in the reformation of the .us domain.
  • He was head of the Policy Advisory Body under the old gTLD-MoU.
  • He is a member of the board of directors of DomainsBot.com.[9]
