==Raytheon Acquires BBN==
In 2009, Raytheon, a company engaged in providing technological innovations in defense and homeland security purchased BBN in a transaction estimated worth $350 million. According BBN President and CEO Tad Elmer, the merger will benefit the company business, its customers and employees. The combine company will be able to quickly transform advance technologies into larger programs. At present BBN operates as Raytheon BBN Technologies under the Network Centric Systems.<ref>
