The idea for a software product that automates domain registrations and management came to [[Sven-Holger Wabnitz]] in 1994 and the software that became '''DomiNIC''' was developed in that year. It went to market the next year as the first software of its kind in Germany.  Dominic GMBH went through the process of liquidation in December 2013, during which time its assets, including the DomiNIC software were purchased by CentralNic.  A new company by the name of dnsXperts UG was formed by previous Dominic GMBH in order to support CentralNic with the ongoing development and support of the software product.<ref>[http://www.thedomains.com/2014/04/10/centralnic-acquires-assets-of-dominic-gmbh/]Retrieved Apr 10, 2014</ref>
