Gavin Brown is a Principal Engineer in the Technical Services team of the Global Domains & Strategy division of ICANN, joining the organization in 2023. Prior to this, he spent 22 years at CentralNic, where he served as CTO, Chief Innovation Officer and Head of Registry Services[1].

Industry Participation

Gavin was a member of ICANN's DNS Security Facilitation Initiative[2] and Access to Non-Public Registration Data[3] Technical Study Groups.

Gavin is active in the Internet Engineering Task Force and was a co-author on two RFCs: RFC8334 (EPP Launch Extension)[4] and RFC8748 (EPP Fee Extension)[5].

From May 2017 until he joined ICANN, Gavin was a member of the eco Association Names & Numbers Steering Committee.[6] In parallel he was a member of eco's topDNS Initiative Advisory Committee[7]. He was also a member of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the Global Cyber Alliance[7].

Mr. Brown was a panelist at the first .nxt Conference for a session entitled, "Implementation: How to run a Registry".

He has had articles published in technical journals, co-authored a book on the Perl language programming, and worked at a start-up in the online recruitment sector.[8]
