Jaewon Son has studied in [https://www.da-vienna.ac.at/en/ Diplomatische Akademie Wien] and Korea University. After being awarded as one of the outstanding performers in the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA) 2018, she was appointed by [https://www.kisa.or.kr/eng/main.jsp Korea Internet & Security Agency] (KISA) to attend ICANN 63 Annual General Meeting in Barcelona as a civilian expert. As a committee member of Korea Internet Governance Alliance (KIGA), she has organized the 8th KrIGF (Korea Internet Governance Forum) to encourage the local community to be aware of Internet-related issues and initiated the first youth session in Korea. As a NextGen fellow, she has attended ICANN 64 in Kobe to present the role of the Internet of Things in disaster risk reduction. She has attended APrIGF 2019 as a fellow and was a speaker for the "Analyzing Perspectives on Youth Participation in the Multi-stakeholder Landscape" and “Big tech everywhere: Is this the future of the Internet?” session. In addition, she has attended APIGA 2019 as a keynote speaker and mentor while presenting on KrIGF during "IGF & NRIs: Smart Tips for a Successful Workshop" session and sharing her IG journey during "Way forward and Future Engagement" session.
Jaewon Son is a member of the Korea Internet Governance Forum (KrIGF) Program Committee at Korea Internet Governance Alliance (KIGA) and member of Youth4IG. Jaewon is interested in ensuring the multistakeholder model in internet governance which made her initiate the first youth session in Korea during the 8th KrIGF and speak on the issue at various meetings.
In addition, Jaewon will be attending Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) 48 as a fellow and will be presenting on Youth4IG, while being a NextGen Ambassador at ICANN 66.
Jaewon was an outstanding performer awardee at the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA) 2018, and was a mentor and keynote speaker at APIGA 2019. In addition, she will be attending ICANN66 in Montreal as NextGen Ambassador to enhancing youth participation. she has attended Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) 2019 in Vladivostok, and Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) 48 in Chiang Mai as a fellow and speaker; and will be a speaker at IGF 2019 in Berlin.
