[https://domainnamewire.com/2023/05/03/icann-board-no-foul-play-in-web-auction/ On April 30], the [[ICANN Board]] determined that an agreement between Nu Dot Co and [[Verisign]] for the [[.web]] top level domain name did not violate the new TLD application terms, which means Verisign could soon begin offering .web domain names depending on whether [[Afilias|Altanovo]] decides to continue the legal battle to block the deal.  

On [https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/ceo-search-2023-en May 16], the [[CEO Search Committee]] sought input from the community in a listening session to help build a candidate profile and job description. The key takeaway was that the [[ICANN Board]] should consider splitting the role into two positions either CEO and COO or president and CEO. Some reasons included that the requirements for being public facing differ significantly from those of running the internal daily operations, it's too much work for one person, and it's easier to find two people with the desired characteristics than finding one to fit the bill. The suggestion was also made that when hired, the CEO could start the search for a COO but that perhaps the Board include in its consideration the assumption that there may be second chief operations hire alongside or immediately following the CEO search.
