Shorter worked as a technical support staff at [[Network Solutions]] registrar business for a period of two years from 1999 to 2000. He joined Verisign in 2001 as Customer Service Supervisor. His job was primarily focused in providing technical integration and implementation support for IDN registrars under the .com and .net domain space. He also trained team members, developed knowledge base technical support documentation and managed [[DNS]] services. He was the team expert on Shared Registration System and Internationalized Domain Name. Shorter was the primary author of EPP Reference Manual of Verisign.
